Microsoft 365 and Office 365 Licensing Changes — What CloudBiz Customers Need to Know

Microsoft has announced significant updates to its Microsoft 365 and Office 365 offerings, designed to give customers greater flexibility and align with global commitments to transparency, interoperability, and customer choice. These updates take effect November 1, 2025, and will influence how CloudBiz delivers and positions Microsoft services for our clients.

Why the Change?

Following Microsoft’s agreement with the European Commission, the company is implementing a new structure for licensing, pricing, and interoperability to ensure open ecosystems and more customer control. This includes expanding APIs for data portability, improving integration for third-party collaboration tools, and offering both Microsoft 365/Office 365 suites with or without Microsoft Teams.

Key Highlights for CloudBiz Customers

1. Choice Between Suites With or Without Teams

Starting November 1, 2025, new customers worldwide can choose between:

Microsoft 365 and Office 365 Enterprise suites with Teams, or

Suites without Teams, which can be paired with other collaboration platforms.

This gives businesses the freedom to customize their productivity environment according to their preferred communication tools.

2. New Pricing Structure

Microsoft has introduced global price deltas between suites with and without Teams, ensuring transparent and consistent pricing worldwide.

3. Interoperability and Data Portability Commitments

Microsoft is enhancing its interoperability framework so that customers and developers can seamlessly integrate with Microsoft 365 and Teams.

  • APIs will now be available for data access across Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive, equivalent to Teams’ own integrations.
  • Customers can export Teams data or migrate to other platforms using new Teams data export and migration tools—free of charge.
  • A new developer resource hub will consolidate all interoperability tools, feedback channels, and support documentation.

These changes empower CloudBiz customers to build hybrid collaboration environments with maximum flexibility and transparency.

4. European Economic Area (EEA) Benefits

Customers in the EEA purchasing directly from Microsoft will receive additional guarantees:

  • Transition options between suites with or without Teams during contract renewals.
  • Retention of existing percentage discounts during transitions.
  • Equal partner discounts across both suite types.

CloudBiz will ensure all customers operating in the EEA region receive the same guidance and support when adapting to these transitions.

5. Partner Commitments

Microsoft has confirmed that partners—like CloudBiz—will receive identical percentage discounts on both versions of Microsoft 365 and Office 365.
This enables us to continue offering competitive pricing and expert consultation on the best productivity suite for your organization’s needs.

Our Commitment

At CloudBiz, we see this as an opportunity to help clients make informed decisions about their collaboration and productivity solutions.
Whether your business relies on Microsoft Teams or uses other communication platforms, our experts will guide you through these updates to ensure a smooth transition and maximum value.
